MOTO SHERBET

I found this leather jacket decorated in gorgeous pink and orange panels at Etro. It's one of my mom's favorite designers and I can see why... quality Italian textiles and vivid paisley prints. I paired the jacket with ivory leather skinnies from Daily Look and Ralph Lauren pumps to match. The look is modest and urban, but with the flirty spirit of Spring.

Rockstud tote - Valentino

I'm normally in the habit of posting everyday, but these past few weeks have been a bit difficult for me! I've certainly had the time to blog, but not the 'emotional means' I guess. Waiting patiently for some internal improvement so I can back into my usual groove... thanks for your support, y'all! <3

BLONDE BUNNY

Few things feel better on a hot day than a pastel color block. Here in Vegas we're already experiencing unfortunate 90 degree temperatures, so I'm almost completely dependent on soft pinks and baby blues to keep me cool. A pair of pink, blue, and mint sneakers from an adorable online shoe retailer called "Le Bunny Bleu" made for the perfect opportunity to debut my muted summer palette. Le Bunny Bleu calls their line of shoes 'romantic vintage', and once you peep the site you'll see why... their stock is simply CUTE. So I put together a Springy twee ensemble to do those baby hues some pastel justice.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Wayfarers - Foster Grant
"Denim sleeveless crop button-up" - American Apparel
"Silver cuff necklace" - OASAP
Accordion pleat mini skirt - ROMWE
"Pink Luna Fashion Sneakers" - Le Bunny Bleu

My sister is not a fan of wayfarers but I kind of like that the Ray-Ban trend has already come and gone... now I feel like I can wear the classic frames without looking like a trend biter. Timeless accents make my life that much easier. Keeping up with accessory fads gets EXHAUSTING after a while! Guess if you're not constantly immersed in all the 'hot or not' fashion hullabaloo you can dedicate more time to simple things like sunglasses... meanwhile I'm completely invested in how to expand my snapback and sneaker wedge collection. 'Til next time.

STREET CADET

When I first ordered this "Neptune Cadet" dress from Sugarlips, I imagined myself wearing it with sky-high silver heels, crystal rhinestones all over my face, and a spiked headband. But somehow I find myself rocking it with sneakers and a snapback instead! What's happening to me?! It's like I can't will myself into wearing those standard space luxe ensembles anymore... I need my laces, my studded streetwear, my hoodie and a fresh attitude.

Silver cuff necklace - ROMWE
Hoodie - YES STYLE
Faux fur vest (layered over jacket) - ROMWE
"Neptune Cadet dress" - SUGARLIPS
"Opall sneakers" - G BY GUESS

So I guess I'm a total sneakerhead these days. Can't help it. Need to optimize my fancy footwork at all times, and these sparkling G by Guess Opall sneakers do the trick dangerously well. Not to mention the fact their pewter sparkles go perfectly with my silver dress... it's a match made on Neptune.

DON'T FLATTER YOURSELF

Hi, did I ask for your opinion? No? Then why are you condescending to me with your unsolicited advice? Do you honestly believe that I am incapable of making my own decisions? If so, please kindly turn around kiss my ass to compensate for your disrespect, because the insinuation that I need your moral direction, as if my own won't suffice, is capital "D" Disrespectful. By the way, my aesthetic discretion -- you know, the sartorial and cosmetic choices I make for myself, for my own body, to represent myself the way my BRAIN sees fit -- is not a THREAT TO YOUR PEACE OF MIND. If I wanna draw my eyebrows on HUGE, that is my prerogative  And it is immune from your interference. No matter how many times you try to shame me with your biased rhetoric (oh you know, appeals to the Western beauty standard... as if I give a shit about what society has decided is most beautiful, as if I give a shit that constructed manifests of 'natural beauty' are valued higher than 'outrageous' [innocuous] cosmetic displays) I will *not* surrender to the idea that I should change MY makeup routine to suit YOUR cowardly preferences. The preferences that were decided for you by the media. Some of you believe that I wear makeup to seem more attractive to other people -- that's not the case. I wear makeup to exercise agency over my FACE, which I did not choose. A series of DNA and a punnet square decided my face for me, and if that's the first thing you're going to look at when you see me, I should so hope that you are actually seeing some representation of my *personhood*, not my GENE POOL. Swiping two bold brunette stripes over where my natural eyebrows would otherwise be is a rather humble exercise of my ENTITLEMENT TO CHOOSE. Don't like it? Don't look.

Think.
For.
Yourself.

Bowler cap - ROMWE
Cage collar - ROMWE
Plaid pleat skirt - 9 Crow Street
Sequin-embossed high tops - BURNETIE

On a much more positive note, I'm sporting a pair of Burnetie high-tops today! While reading the company's bio, I was stoked to found that Burnetie totes 'corporate responsibility' as a priority in their manufacturing process. And they care enough about reducing waste and protecting the environment to create sneakers out of vulcanized rubber. Gives me hope in the world. Heh. Hope that inspires anyone who's been feeling disillusioned by business lately... there are kindred souls in the industry after all. ;)

Speaking of kindred souls... HELLOOOO PETALS AND PEACOCKS. Y'all kind of really freakin' rule. "BONE ME" t-shirt? Are you for real? Waving BYE to all my other lame tank tops that think they can compete with this one. Stay clever. For everyone else: let's all make an honest effort to keep up with their wit. PEEP DA SITE

THRASH BLOSSOM

Been waiting to debut this cherry blossom Romwe skirt set for WAY too long... I'm talkin' two fashion seasons here! I ordered the skirt and jacket nearly a year ago, wearing each separately a couple times but never photographing the evidence. Finally I've put together a look 'worth blogging about' - the ultimate arbiter of an outfit's quality. My ultimate goal is to never go a day without wearing an outfit I feel confident sharing with the world. So far, so good! ;-)

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

Jeweled snapback - ROMWE
Cherry blossom skirt set - ROMWE
Exodus tee - Vintage
"GIMME Sneaker Wedge" - Daddy's Money

My matching floral kicks are compliments of Daddy's Money -- Skechers' sister brand for a younger, girlier demographic. I first discovered Daddy's Money at WWD MAGIC in August of 2012. Ironically, one of their sales associates wasn't too happy with my stealth attempt at Instagramming their impressive revolving sign and tried to kick me out of the station, despite my insistence that I was offering the brand free advertising. I respectfully walked away, and am brushing the dirt of my shoulder 9 months later... the fact that I'm rocking the bleep out of this sassy pair of "GIMME" wedges means I truly won the battle. Moral of the story: never let temporary sales staff at tradeshows tell you that you can't use social media to promote their product. In the end you'll be wearing it!

HOLIER THAN THOU

Several months ago I went out shopping with my mom for some "retail therapy"... I was still dressing fresh breakup wounds and needed to distract myself with material goods for emotional refuge. Sometimes those false needs really come in handy. Lemme tell ya. I spied this waffle weave T by Alexander Wang top at Scoop NYC and fell in love instantaneously. Well, that's not entirely true. I had already seen the top a million times online because I'm an obnoxious Alexander Wang superfan. When it came before me on a hanger in the store... it was a seriously divine moment and I bought it without a moment's hesitation. I also snagged a leopard print porkpie hat and some J Brand zipper-embellished denim & leather jeans from Intermix. Fantastic little spree that I have yet to top.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

"PARADISE" baseball jacket - ALOHA FROM DEER
Waffle weave tee - T by Alexander Wang (Scoop NYC)
Blouse around waist - Sugarlips
Chiffon pants - YES STYLE
"Popstar sneaker wedges" - G BY GUESS
Faux leather backpack - YESWALKER

Soooo, if you follow me on Twitter, you might already know that I'm a bit of an art snob. This varsity jacket by Aloha From Deer couldn't more perfectly fit into my personal brand. It's decorated in a freakin' Rococo angel mural for Pete's sake -- now that's that shit I DEFINITELY like. Also on my list of shit I definitely like: yet another pair of kicks to add to my growing collection. These are are a pair of G by Guess "Popstar" sneaker wedges. Diggin' the neutral beige... matches nearly everything, especially the nude tones in my Paradise jacket. I level up on that spiked sneaker game daily.

In line with my practical footwear is a practical new leather backpack from YesWalker. I used to wear the same Rebecca Minkoff messenger bag everyday for a year... then sometime in 2012 I switched over to a backpack, and I've been collecting them ever since! Tiny, clear, canvas, vinyl, I want them ALL. The latest is made of matte black pleather. Super stealth to match a strong monochrome look. It's probably the best backpack I've ever ordered online because it STILL hasn't shown any sign of wear and tear... and I'm pretty brutal with my backpacks. The real test is whether or not it will last a week in LA? I should travel soon... ;)

JUST KICKIN' IT

The highlight of my entire life happened happened the other day when I received a package from PUMA, tore it open, and found these white and beige BEAUTIES inside. Featuring perforated panels, velcro straps, and a hidden platform, these certified bad boys are undoubtedly the most prized pair of kicks in my current shoe collection. They were conceived in collaboration with Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro as part of PUMA's black label project, which marries high fashion visionaries and PUMA's signature sports function. The result is a series of designs with couture appeal and practical translation, from all-stars like Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan. Check out the site for more details.

Rainbow necklace - Chicwish
Personalized vest - Jordache, thrift
Acid wash button-up - 9 CROW STREET

"MY-66 In-Heel Trainers" - PUMA X MIHARAYASUHIRO

I am also ~proudly rocking~ an acid-wash button-up from 9 Crow Street, my favorite online vintage retailer! Their site is essentially the greatest thrift store you will ever access online... the good shit has already been sorted out from the riff raff and presented ever so beautifully for your browsing pleasure, it's open 24/7, and there's no line. Ever. So much love for e-commerce, my friends.

P.S. My birthday is in 5 FREAKIN' DAYS PEOPLE!!!! What should I do? What should I wear?!?!
